Friday 4 September 2026 Castle Hill Blog 04/09/2026 A warm welcome back to all of our wonderful school community I am absolutely delighted to see everyone in such a positive frame of mind. My assembly this week has been on the theme of superheroes. This identified that our three greatest superpowers aren't magical, they are: being kind, not giving up and asking for help when we need it. I am proud of all of our pupils this week but a special mention goes to our new Year 7s; it takes great courage to start a new school.

Friday 17 July 2026 Castle Hill Blog 17/07/2026 What an emotional but wonderful end to the academic year. I was treated to an extraordinary piano performance today from one of our truly gifted Year 10 pupils. Their rendition of Due Tramonti by Ludovico Einaudi was breathtaking — the two sunset‑like passages unfolding with a beautiful contrast: the fortissimo crescendos rising with power and clarity, set against the gentle, almost soporific tones that followed. It was a performance full of maturity, control, and emotional depth.

Friday 12 June 2026 Castle Hill Blog 12/06/2026 This week has been an emotional rollercoaster; I am always filled with immense sadness, juxtaposed with joy, when I say goodbye to our incredible Year 11 pupils. I have been overwhelmed with admiration and pride for all that they have achieved. Yesterday, I was invited by Miss Smolka to watch her communication and drama group deliver their final performance of a script they had been working on for months. It was beautifully choreographed, and the performances were powerful and thought‑provoking. I also enjoyed the usual rounds of shirt‑signing and well‑wishing, rounded off with the crescendo event: the leavers' assembly.

Friday 5 June 2026 Castle Hill Blog 05/06/2026 What an incredible week this has been with so much to be proud of...this time of year always feels emotional as we review the journey of development our Year 11 pupils have been on and look to celebrate their achievements. This week's assembly was to encourage our pupils to maintain a growth mentality and to be brave. We were extremely privileged to be able to welcome a special guest.

Friday 15 May 2026 Castle Hill Blog 15/5/2026 Welcome to another weekend, with only one week to go until half-term it's safe to say that it's been a very busy but wonderful time here at Castle Hill! This morning's assembly on the theme of careers revealed some fascinating truths about some of our staff members' previous jobs...we have a barber assistant, an ice-cream person and a former footballer amongst us. A lesson to everyone that life is a journey and we collect skills on the way! I had the pleasure of seeing Miss Hill's class chefing in action making a delectable oriental noodle salad which I'm sure some of you will feast on and enjoy for supper later.

Friday 8 May 2026 Castle Hill Blog 08/05/2026 This week's assembly focused on asthma, its effects and how to support someone who is having an asthma attack. The pupils listened intently and shared their knowledge and experiences. It was heartening to see how caring they are of one another and how they would want to help each other should one of them have an asthma attack.

Friday 1 May 2026 Castle Hill Blog 01/05/2026 Friday has positively zoomed around this week and there's a lot to celebrate...Alton Towers staff have commented on the exceptional behaviour of our Year 9 pupils who have participated in the residential visits. A delightful Year 10 pupil made me a mouthwatering quiche lorraine. I toe-tapped to bagpipes in my office at break time treated to demi-Lea's musical talents.

Friday 24 April 2026 Castle Hill Blog 24/04/26 One of the most wonderful things about Castle Hill is our pupils' ability to demonstrate acts of kindness. We are fortunate to have an ex pupil give up his time each week to volunteer and support in forest school. Archie Thomas has come in no matter what the weather with a smile on his face and a willing attitude and for that we are extremely grateful!

Friday 20 March 2026 Castle Hill Blog 20/03/26 What a whirlwind of a week here at Castle Hill! A blast of spring has reenergised the whole school community, with daffodils bowing their heads to the glorious sunshine and the pupils enjoying our fantastic outdoor spaces. Friday 6 March 2026 Castle Hill Blog 06/03/26 As I started to prepare for my assemblies next week and the possible themes I could explore, I reflected on just how lucky we are in this school to have such fantastic literacy and reading resources. This includes the imaginative and dedicated staff members. From our well stocked library with its colourful and welcoming relaxation spaces to the comprehensive and precisely organised reading scheme texts. Every effort is made in our school to promote a genuine love of reading from the sensory story sacks to the dedicated daily reading time for all pupils. We have also been developing our range of reading texts to convey a broader and more inclusive picture of cultures and beliefs.

Friday 27 February 2026 Castle Hill Blog 27/02/26 This week has been a whirlwind of activity with so many things to celebrate. Our pupils really are intrinsically kind. This is shown from the pupil who holds the door open for a friend. A pupil volunteers to litter pick because they want the yard to look nice for everyone. A pupil who shares their credits to get a snack for a friend. A pupil who leaves a tiny 'lucky' figure on my desk as a present to make me happy. We really are so fortunate to be a part of this school community!

Friday 13 February 2026 Castle Hill Blog 13/02/26 This week's assembly theme has been Artificial Intelligence. We explored some fascinating discussions about how we use AI, the benefits it can bring, and the importance of staying safe and responsible. One surprising fact I learned is that AI isn't “free” to use in an environmental sense — asking it complex questions can require significant computing power, which in turn uses large amounts of water for cooling. It's a reminder that we should think carefully about when we use AI and avoid wasting resources unnecessarily, as this can have a harmful impact on the environment. As the saying goes...no matter how old you are, every day is a school day!

Friday 6 February 2026 Castle Hill Blog 06/02/26 This week's assembly focused on the theme of belonging and how it shapes our school community. The closing message encouraged everyone to “make somebody feel like a somebody.” That spirit was clear in our pupils' genuine delight for one another during the weekly awards ceremony. The winners experienced a powerful sense of achievement, while their friends and teachers gave enthusiastic applause and were filled with pride.

Friday 12 December 2025 Castle Hill Blog 12/12/25 This morning's assembly brought our Christmas celebrations to a joyful crescendo. Pupils took part in a lively quiz, considered how they could be thankful and enter their thoughts in a competition, and were treated to a surprise visit from none other than the Grinch himself! The mix of laughter and festive mischief made for an unforgettable finale to the term — oh, what fun indeed!

Friday 5 December 2025 Castle Hill Blog 5/12/25 Before the summer holidays, Mrs Mullen organised and led an art trip to the Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Whilst on the trip she discovered some exciting news: later in the year, the gallery would host a special exhibition to mark its centenary. Appropriately titled Beautiful Things, the exhibition invited submissions from anyone living, working, or studying in Stockport.
