FAQs
Q: My child is nervous about going outdoors.
A: This is quite common. We use our dedicated outdoor classroom as a calm transition space between indoor and outdoor elements of sessions. Pupils only move outside when they feel comfortable and ready.
Q: What happens if someone needs the toilet when they are outside?
A: We have accessible toilets in school, which are very close to our main basecamp. If pupils need the toilet during a session, they will be escorted by a member of staff.
Q. What clothing will my child need?
A: We provide all of the forest school clothing. Our dedicated changing cabin holds all the wellies, waterproof trousers and spare jackets that will be needed. But pupils are welcome to bring their own outdoor clothing if they'd prefer.... but it may get muddy!
Q: When will my child do Forest School sessions?
A: Currently, Year 7 have a block of Forest School as part of their PE curriculum. Year 9 and our Hub pupils have a session every week throughout the year and Outdoor Education features in our Key Stage 4 options curriculum.
