Key Stage 3
To facilitate a smooth transition to secondary school we operate a primary model in Year 7 with students being taught the majority of their lessons in one classroom by their form teacher. They will however be taught lessons such as art, food technology, computing and science in by subject specialist teachers in the relevant rooms.
In Years 8 and 9 students follow a more conventional secondary model with most lessons being taught by subject specialist teachers.
Classes in Years 7-9 are mixed ability with all lessons being differentiated to ensure all students are challenged and can make real progress. Intervention sessions will also be offered where necessary to further develop students’ skills.
There are residential trips in both Years 7 and 8 which help students to become more independent and develop vital lifeskills.
Full details of the Key Stage 3 curriculum can be found on the 'Curriculum' page of the website under 'Teaching & Learning'.
